Police in Katwe have recovered a torso of an unidentified woman. The headless body was found along Kampala-Entebbe highway in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
There is suspicion in police circles that the headless body could be that of Cathy Agaba, a doctor at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) who went missing on April 13. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Patrick Onyango confirmed the recovery of the body, but declined to confirm whether it is for Dr Agaba.
"Let me crosscheck. But I advise you not to rush because you might hit a wall," Onyango said.
Dr Agaba's sister only identified as Immaculate told URN that they had received information about the headless body recovered by police.
"That body has no head. We cannot confirm. Maybe it'll be after a DNA test," Immaculate said.
Dr Agaba was last seen leaving her apartment with a brief case as if she was heading somewhere. Immaculate said they are yet to get any information about her whereabouts and are relying on police.
Kabalagala police is holding a US based Ugandan doctor identified as Andrew Ntambi (also rumoured to be the boyfriend) in connection with Dr Agaba’s disappearance.
"We have one person being interrogated over Dr Agaba's disappearance and he's a US doctor. We ask the family to remain calm," Onyango said on Friday.
Dr Ntambi was arrested after a a medical student in Kabalagala alerted police that he had last seen the duo moving together on the day that Agaba disappeared.
