69 more people have been discharged from Ugandan hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The number of recoveries has now increased to 420 while the number of confirmed has increased to 732. A further 8 people tested positive from the 2,526 samples tested yesterday.

The new cases include four cross border truckers who entered the country from Kenya via Malaba and South Sudan from Elegu point of entry.

The other four cases were alerts and contacts from Kampala (2), Moyo and Kasese districts. The case in Kasese had just crossed into Uganda from the Democratic Republic of Congo, through a porous border according to the ministry of Health.

"The male entered through porous borders and so far we have managed to track the case and the person has been put under isolation where he is undergoing treatment," Dr Henry Mwebesa, the director-general of health services said.

At the moment, Uganda has 312 active patients who are undergoing treatment at 12 treatment centres across the country. Uganda has been using a combination of hydroxychloroquine and antibiotics to treat its patients, who have however been classified as mild.
