Police has arrested a security guard in connection to the robbery that occurred on Saturday night at Chims Enterprise Limited in Nansana, Wakiso district. Joseph Okong, the private security guard attached to Tiger Security Group, was reportedly found tied up at the scene-of-crime after the robbery which occurred at around 10pm.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango says that three guards attached to Tiger Security Group turned against their colleague to put employees at gunpoint before taking off with Shs 13 million. The guards are identified as Edward Turinawe and another only identified as Belson.

It is alleged that the guards stole MTN cash sales worth Shs 3.9 million, MTN mobile money float worth Shs 4 million, Shs 1.5 million from Centenary agent banking, another Shs 240,000 from the Diamond Trust bank agent, two mobile phones worth Shs 424,000 and cash from sales valued at Shs 3.2 million.

After the said robbery, the guards reportedly abandoned their guns and took off but never fired any single bullet. Onyango says the search for the two guards is ongoing. Chims Enterprise in Nansana is located about 200 meters from Cheap Hardware which was raided by armed robbers who stole an unspecified amount of money and killed three workers in broad daylight, a month ago.

The incident at Chim Enterprise also becomes the fourth attack against a mobile money agent in the month of June. The others include two mobile money operators that were killed in Zana, along Entebbe road, and Juliet Nabaasa, a 30-year old who was killed in Nakulabye on Friday night.
